PLAY METHOD'S FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How did you come up with PLAY Method? We asked a lot of questions including: Why is sheet music still in black and white? What makes playing the piano so difficult? Is there any way to make a program that would be fast and easy to learn? And over time, this method developed and evolved.
How is PLAY different? PLAY is different in all ways. It is a radical departure from traditional teaching, which has always been about reading existing notes and playing them. Instead of this approach, we have re-designed everything to make it easy and then over time bring you to the same place. The main difference being that students don’t get frustrated, bored or give up because they play within minutes of beginning PLAY Method.
What do I need to get started? We recommend that you have a piano, or electric keyboard and color printer. If you don't, you can play the Virtuoso Virtual Piano on the site for free. Start by printing out the QUICKSTART pages. If you don’t have a piano or keyboard, you can buy one through the site. There is no need to purchase an expensive keyboard, until you are sure you like playing.Is that it?That’s it! You will start playing songs within 5 minutes! Then you can continue by purchasing book downloads, and more music from the STORE.
What does it cost? QUICKSTART and 5 songs from the Song Library are free. Each additional song is $.99. Downloadable books are $9.95. If you don’t have a piano, keyboards start under $100.I eventually want to read and play "regular" sheet music.
Will this be possible? YES. Level 4 lesson book is devoted to transitioning students from playing our color-coded notation to reading and playing regular sheet music.
